The Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026 turned downtown San Diego into one giant playground for fans. This year, there were nearly 60 free and ticketed activations spread across the city, and one of the biggest changes was the shift away from Bayfront Park toward the Gaslamp Quarter.
The move created a more walkable experience, with many activations just steps from one another. After visiting dozens of them, these are my picks for the Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026.
Paramount+ The Lodge
If I had to choose an overall winner for the Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026, Paramount+ The Lodge would take the top spot. It perfectly blended immersive sets, live entertainment, themed food and drinks, and interactive experiences based on franchises including Star Trek, South Park, Avatar: The Last Airbender, NCIS, and more.
Each room was different and felt like stepping into a different world. The attention to detail made it one of the most complete experiences of Comic-Con. It was also one of the busiest activations of the week, with fans lining up daily to see what was inside.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Disney once again proved why it creates some of the Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026. Instead of simply walking through an exhibit, guests entered Poseidon’s trident and chose one of three paths inspired by Percy, Annabeth, or Thalia.
The branching storylines, detailed sets, and interactive challenges made every visit memorable. It was immersive without relying on huge giveaways, showing that great storytelling can be the biggest attraction.
Hulu Animayhem
Hulu Animayhem earned its place among the Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026 by creating one of the most fun environments downtown. The combination of themed food and drinks, detailed recreations from Futurama and King of the Hill, hidden Easter eggs, and plenty of photo opportunities kept fans exploring every corner.
Moving the activation closer to the Gaslamp made it even more accessible, and the playful atmosphere made it one of the easiest places to spend an hour.

There were plenty of other experiences that could have made this list of the Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026.

Best Comic-Con After Party: Thrilljoy Rock the Block
If there was one Comic-Con after-party that captured the excitement of the weekend, it was Thrilljoy’s Rock the Block. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was electric.
The party brought together passionate fans, exclusive collectibles, interactive experiences, food and drinks, and nonstop entertainment in a way that felt like a true celebration of Comic-Con culture. The highlight of the night was an energetic live performance by Bowling for Soup, whose set had the crowd singing along from start to finish.
Thrilljoy has built an incredibly loyal community, and that enthusiasm was on full display throughout the evening. Rather than feeling like a promotional event, Rock the Block felt like a party created by fans for fans, making it my pick for the best Comic-Con after-party of 2026.
With so many high-quality activations, choosing the Best Comic-Con Pop-Ups of 2026 wasn’t easy, but these three stood above the rest for creativity, execution, and overall fun. Just as much fun was seeing the energy in the Gaslamp Quarter and the restaurants stepping up with fun themes.
