I know San Diego isn’t the first place people think of when it comes to steak. But maybe it should be. Lately, I’ve been eating my way through some seriously good cuts. Locals always ask me who has the best steak in San Diego. This includes wagyu with chimichurri to ribeye’s cooked over live fire. Some spots are fancy, some are casual, but at all of them, I had some great steaks.  If you’re in the mood for steak, here’s where to go.

You don’t need white tablecloths or a dress code to enjoy the best steak in San Diego. Some of my favorite spots are chill neighborhood joints that just know how to cook a steak right. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked exactly how you asked. They get bonus points if they serve it with fries or chimichurri.

For an impressive platter of grilled meat, order the Grigliata Mista at Carbon Angela’s Kitchen. It includes five meats (including their picanha steak and ribeye), two sides, and three sauces.  The decor is rustic, the steaks are grilled perfectly, and a reservation is highly recommended.
