First Impressions: Tulum Vibes in San Diego
UPDATE: Brisa closed on 7/13/26. Brisa Little Italy opened this month in a cozy spot on Kettner Blvd, taking over the former Zinqué space. The decor leans laid-back and tropical, with a fun, Tulum-inspired vibe. There’s a stylish patio lounge that’s perfect for evening drinks or catching up with friends. Whether you’re dining indoors or out, Brisa Little Italy keeps the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.
Brisa Little Italy offers a fusion of Latin flavors, crafted cocktails, and sushi, all set against a modern-chic decor featuring a stylish patio lounge. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a great spot for dinner or drinks. Brisa’s outdoor setup is super cozy. There’s space for full dining, but also lounge-style seating with couches that are perfect for a casual hang or drinks with friends.
Just like dining in all of Little Italy, the hardest part isn’t picking where and what to eat, it’s finding a parking spot for Brisa Little Italy.
Appetizers: Fresh Flavors to Start
The kitchen at Brisa Little Italy may be small, but what’s coming out of it is impressive. Every dish we ordered looked great and tasted even better. The presentation was on point. I was especially excited to try the food here because I know Chef Marco from his Italian cooking. At Brisa, he’s blending Latin American flavors with Japanese influence, and doing it really well.
At Brisa Little Italy, we kicked things off with the street corn and guac. It is fresh, creamy, and with just the right kick. The wagyu skewers were tender and packed with flavor, and the fried calamari came out crispy without being greasy. The pulpo a la plancha had a nice smoky char and was super tender. But the star of the night was the passionfruit ceviche. It’s flavorful, tangy, and served with blue corn chips.
Main Course: Latin Meets Japanese
Brisa Little Italy’s menu includes sushi rolls and Japanese fusion dishes. The pollo mole had a rich, deep flavor with a hint of sweetness. The wagyu pichana steak was cooked perfectly and came with crispy yuca fries and a fresh chimichurri sauce.
Drinks: Cocktails with a Kick
At Brisa Little Italy, the cocktails are just as bold as the food. The Guava Lava blends jalapeño-infused tequila with guava purée, giving you a drink that’s both spicy and sweet. The Total Smoke Show combines mezcal, mango purée, and firewater bitters for a smoky and spicy flavor with just a touch of sweetness.
