Cellar Hand Focus on Hyper-Local Produce

COASTAL CALIFORNIA AND MEDITERRANEAN MENU

We have great options for farm-to-table restaurants in San Diego as we have the perfect temperature for growing a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs year-round. Cellar Hand in Hillcrest just opened, and is focused on hyper-local, sourcing all their produce from local farmers within an hour of San Diego.

Cellar Hand is the first full-service restaurant from the family behind Pali Wine Co., with chef Logan Kendall at the helm.  Pali Wine Co. is a family-run winery that highlights the diversity and nuanced qualities of the California Central Coast wine-growing area, with three unique brands – Pali, Tower 15, and Neighborhood – each with distinct winemaking focuses. They also own a wine bar in Little Italy, where you can enjoy wine & charcuterie on their upstairs patio.

CELLAR HAND IS FOCUSED ON HYPER-LOCAL PRODUCE

With an emphasis on coastal California and Mediterranean menu, the menu has sections devoted to Raw, Conserva, For Dipping, and Dinner. There is an open kitchen where you can watch the dishes being made – the menu is very impressive for a kitchen this small and makes everything from scratch.

The produce is sourced from local farmers. These farms were listed on the menu the day I visited:  Chino Farms, Dasquito Farms, Hakuma Farms, Weiser Family Farms, Rodney Kawano Farms, Cyclops Farms, Murray Family Farms, Thompson Heritage Ranch, Girl N Dug, JR Organics, Stehly Family Farms, Happy Hens, Kind Folk Farm, Marimoto Farms, Monterey Bay Seaweeds, and Eck Farms.

Local pork and beef are sourced from Thompson Heritage Ranch.

They have a large selection of wines that can be ordered by the glass or bottle. All of the wines served are from California, including the wines from Pali.

The restaurant has been completely renovated and features both indoor and outdoor seating (with fire pits and comfy seating).  There are large pull-up garage doors making the restaurant bright and visually lovely no matter where you are seated. The wall art and ceramics were all made locally.

Just across the road from Cellar Hand, is insideOUT, a popular restaurant and lounge.  I suspect these two restaurants will be the most sought-after reservations in the area.
