Looking for a good burger? Strike that. Looking for a great burger? When I think about the perfect burger, the first thing that comes to mind is a juicy patty, fresh toppings, and a toasted bun. At Cosmos Burgers in Oceanside, California, I found a specialty burger that hits all the right notes: the Spicy Jam burger. Let me share the reasons why I think that Cosmos Burgers might just be the best burger joint in Oceanside.
The star of the show: the food

The spicy jam burger
I’ll confess that I was a little hesitant to order this dish at Cosmos Burgers. It is a 6-oz beef patty on a brioche bun, herb aioli, onion, pickles, lettuce, serrano jam, and cheddar cheese. I suspected that the serrano peppers would be way too hot for me, but I’m so pleased I ordered it. It is sweeter and spicier, and the flavor of the jam was absolutely fantastic. They make the serrano jam fresh every day, and the flavor with the smashed burger with burnt edges and herb aioli were so good together. It is no surprise that this is one of the most popular items on the menu.
The OG Hot Dog
This is no ordinary hot dog in a bun at Cosmos Burgers. You will get a beef frank in a brioche bun with herb aioli, ketchup, honey mustard, pickles, and caramelized onions. Hungry? This hot dog is for you.
Chicken tenders with pickles
You can get the chicken tenders in a sandwich or as a three-piece plate. If you like them spicy, then the Hot Chick is for you. They are also available in Garlic Parm, and BBQ sauces. The portion is generous, especially at $13-14.
A serious focus on quality
The owners are dedicated to using quality meats and produce. The beef and chicken are never frozen, and all the sauces are meticulously made in-house. But wait, there’s more! They’ve got a truffle burger and a truffle honey sandwich on the menu, with truffles flown in from a source in Germany. The attention to detail is reflected in the Parmesan cheese that’s freshly grated, locally sourced produce, and sauces made from scratch.
FRIENDLY SERVICE
The vibes at Cosmos Burgers are just as inviting as the food. The staff greeted their customers so warmly, making it an enjoyable process to decide what to order. It is no wonder that it is a local hangout. Need a recommendation on what to order? The staff were eager to tell me their favorites.
