EXQUISITE DINING AND OCEAN VIEWS

Whether you choose to dine at the original location of Beeside Balcony in downtown Del Mar or the newer location in the heart of La Jolla, you are going to enjoy an incredible meal with ocean views. But keep reading, as I’ve included information about the hidden speakeasy at the La Jolla location below.  I will admit that I am a frequent diner at Beeside Balcony. I really appreciate chef-owner Christophe Cevasco’s cooking style.

BEESIDE BALCONY IS CASUAL FINE-DINING

The dishes at Beeside Balcony can be described as fine dining, yet the environment, seating, and decor are modern and casual.  The dishes from Chef Cevasco are innovative and show his commitment to high-quality ingredients. The La Jolla location has both indoor and patio seating, while Del Mar is all outdoor patio dining. The menus are the same at both locations.

Recently, they have added some great value options to the menu, offering affordable dishes of their most popular dishes:

  • Bee’s Board Mondays: Shareable charcuterie board with meats, cheese, spreads and Beeside local honey plus a drink for two. $30 for two people.
  • $1 fresh oysters: Daily during happy hour, 3–6pm. Seven days a week.
  • Wine Wednesday: 50% off bottles and by-the-glass pours.  All day.
  • $55 three-course dinner: Includes some of my Beeside favorites (salmon croquette, barramundi, lamb loin chop, and Denver steak).
  • $25 smashburger deal: Smashburger, Parmesan truffle fries, and a 16 oz Honey Blonde beer.
  • $20 mix and match lunch menu (choose any two items from the food and drink menu)

ITEMS TO ORDER AT BEESIDE BALCONY

These are the dishes that I ordered however chef is always innovating, and introducing new dishes, so I hope that these are available.

Grilled steak topped with herbs on a slate board, accompanied by a basket of seasoned fries, with a hand holding a metal cup of sauce.

The Beeside Balcony filet mignon has been on the menu since they opened, so I hope it is never removed. An 8-oz filet mignon is seasoned and cooked perfectly, and comes with an au poivre peppercorn sauce. I think I make a great sauce at home, but it’s nowhere near as good as Chef Christophe’s. Pro tip upgrade from the rosemary fries and get the truffle parmesan fries.

The Spanish octopus is one of the newer items on the menu. The octopus is braised, seared, and served on a bed of arugula. The lemon truffle vinaigrette over the top is really delicious.

Four meatballs on a bed of tomato sauce with crumbled cheese and herbs, served on a white oval plate in a restaurant setting.

The meatballs, a mix of beef and lamb, are my favorite item on the starter menu. The sauce made with san marzano tomato sauce and feta cheese, combined with the meatballs, has the most amazing flavor.

The octopus seviche is also a starter – it’s a generous portion and has a little heat from the jalapeno (it’s balanced with lemon juice).

A vibrant purple cocktail garnished with small flowers, served in a stemmed glass on a wooden table with a black napkin in a cozy restaurant setting.

Beeside Balcony has a great selection of cocktails. Some of them utilize fresh honey that is sourced from their family farm. It does not get fresher than that.

With so many great restaurant choices in San Diego, Beeside Balcony stands out because of Chef Cevasco’s enthusiasm and passion for food. If you’re lucky, he is there when you dine so that you can firsthand experience how much he loves creating great dishes.

HIDDEN SPEAKEASY AT BEESIDE BALCONY

I am not going to reveal the location of the entrance to the hidden speakeasy “The Honey Pot Lounge.” I’ll let you have fun discovering it.  It has its own bites and cocktail menu.

Beeside Balcony is open for brunch/lunch, and dinner.  They also have a great happy hour. It’s featured on my list of top places to get a happy hour deal.
