El Viejon Seafood, known for its Mexican seafood with an Asian twist, has opened a new spot in Mira Mesa called El Viejón Seafood & Brunch. This is their third location, following Convoy Street and Otay Ranch. The restaurant is owned by Luis and Angelica Gonzalez, who also run Lupes Mexican Eatery and Holy Paleta.
The menu at El Viejon Seafood reflects a fusion of dishes from Mexico’s west coast, especially Sinaloa and Baja California. What is very evident is their focus on the freshness of the seafood and the flavors of the dishes.
The El Viejon Seafood menu features mariscos from Sinaloa and Baja. Including raw scallops, chocolate clams, aguachiles, and Ensenada-style fish and lobster tacos. They add Asian flavors like daikon radish, sesame seeds, and spicy peanut oil. They’ve got all the customer favorite items from their Convoy and Otay Ranch locations, plus some new dishes to mix it up.
The Sinaloa Samurai, a whole fried red snapper, is a standout dish on the menu at El Viejon Seafood. They cut slashes into the flesh of the fish, and it is covered with their marinade and spices before being deep fried. It is incredibly flavorful and is really delicious with the sides of rice and salad.
