Salt + Lime Modern Mexican Food and Drinks in Del Mar

Salt + Lime Del Mar

DINING AT A SALT + LIME FOR THE FIRST TIME

I went to Lime + Salt Del Mar for dinner last night – it’s my second time since they opened in Del Mar.  I first tried their food when they were a food truck operating In North Park. I recall being so impressed with the quality of the food.  If you have been to the food truck, you will only recognize a couple of the items on the menu at the Del Mar location. Kudos to Alan and his team for not simply offering the exact same dishes. To say that the food is fantastic would be an understatement. Everything I had was fresh, incredibly tasty and I could see their focus on ensuring that every dish uses quality ingredients and is beautifully plated.

On both days, there was a line waiting to get in – word of their opening and good food is out very quickly.

Service was outstanding, and I tried a selection of their tacos, ceviche and tostadas. I will admit that the tostadas always used to be my favorite item on the menu, and even though I haven’t tried everything on the new menu yet, they are still one of my absolute favorites. The Won Tostada with spicy tuna is easily the best tostada I have eaten all year. Baja fish taco is so fresh and the Mahi-Mahi absolutely shines. And you got to try the Quesabirria taco.

They also offer an outstanding craft cocktail menu – they were all refreshing and creative.

Quite simply: the food is fantastic, service is outstanding, and the decor is warm and inviting.
