WHERE CAN YOU GET THE BEST SAN DIEGO BRUNCH?

Looking to find the best weekekend brunch in San Diego?  The most important thing I look for is a menu with a good mix of breakfast and lunch items, a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, a wide variety of brunch cocktails, and pricing that offers good value for the quality.  Luckily we have some great options in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO BRUNCH RECOMMENDATIONS

crushed

If you’ve seen any photos of Crushed, you already know that cocktails rule supreme at this popular brunch and lunch spot. If you spot a long line, that’s not unusual. Their selection of beers, mimosas, and craft cocktails goes so well with a menu that includes curry fries, chicken chilaquiles, cinnamon swirl, and tacos. They are also open for dinner and happy hour.

THE MISSION

Ready for a hearty and totally delicious brunch? Then you need to check out the healthy, simple, and tasty dishes at The Mission.  The North Park is my favorite location, but they also have one in Mission Beach and East Village.  The portions are generous and are well priced.  Check out the avocado toast for a healthy option, and the strawberry banana pancakes for something more decadent.

DOCKSIDE 1953

Located in the Bahia Resort Hotel, it is hard to beat their combination of stunning Mission Bay views and delicious food.  The restaurant was recently renovated and I’d highly recommend sitting on the outdoor patio area.  They offer a weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays – and a free sunset view every night of the week.  It’s a great spot to kick off the weekend with a mimosa flight.

94TH AERO SQUADRON

This is one of the most unique locations in San Diego to enjoy weekend brunch.  It is located inside a replica of a World War I French farmhouse and has a view of the runway at Montgomery Field.  The buffet has sushi, salads, desserts, egg stations, top sirloin, and seafood. It also includes champagne and mimosas. The brunch at 94th Aero Squadron is so good, that I had to write a complete article about it.

the vibe

As one of the newest brunch spots in San Diego, The Vibe quickly became one of the most popular. There is almost always a line, but it is worth waiting for.  The vibes, food, and service are all A+. The dishes include both classic and inventive dishes, like smoked salmon toast with chive-mascarpone, arugula, and dill mustard drizzle.  The cocktails are just as creative as the food.

BREAKFAST REPUBLIC

Only open for breakfast and lunch, you can count on getting generous portions, good food, and great service at Breakfast Republic.  Before ordering, make sure you look at their seasonal specials. The flight of three pancakes is my favorite item on the menu, as you can choose any of the three pancakes, including the pineapple upside-down and cinnamon roll.

FAY'S DINER

Everything is made from scratch, with generous portions, at great prices. That explains why Fay’s Diner is so popular. Whether you are looking for sweet or savory brunch items or a hearty and healthy lunch, you’ll find something on the menu that you’ll want to order. The All American is a serious burger that requires two hands to lift.

WEREWOLF

Serving brunch seven days a week, Werewolf American Pub, is much loved by locals and tourists.  Dining here is more than just a meal, it’s an experience.  And the only thing better than their food is the outstanding service – seriously an amazing team that works here. They recently added new dishes and cocktails to their  menu.

CRAFT HOUSE

The relaxed coastal vibe and comfortable ambiance make Craft House an ideal spot for a weekend gathering.  The brunch menu includes classics and New American cuisine dishes.  Get the Steak & Eggs (with avocado poblano crema) and pair it with a mimosa flight for a delicious and boozy weekend brunch.

FIG TREE CAFE

While there are several locations of Fig Tree Cafe, it’s the Pacific Beach location that I am most obsessed with. Yes, there is always a wait, but it’s because the ambiance is so charming.  And the food is fantastic.  Dogs are welcome as the entire restaurant is outside.  Order anything on the menu, as the food is consistently delicious.
