Unveiling the Best Vegan Delights at The Plot

san diego vegan food

Truth be told, I am not a vegan, and I do enjoy a good steak. I grew up thinking that vegetarian and vegan food was a plate of steamed or roasted vegetables – maybe some pasta with it. But after my first meal at The Plot, I was captivated. San Diego vegan food has been defined by their creative dishes, excellent service, and friendly ambiance.

Cute location IN OCEANSIDE

Located in Oceanside, California, this avant-garde eatery has redefined the vegan dining experience. The dishes utilize locally sourced and organic ingredients – with much of the vegetables coming from their garden. The dishes can only be described as a symphony of flavors, and stunning to look at.

What is so captivating about The Plot, is that it appeals to both vegans and foodies. Their dedication to sustainability does not compromise on taste or creativity.

No wonder they were on the “The 2021 Best New Restaurants” list by Vegetarian Times.

What to order

Some of my favorite dishes on the menu:

  • Grilled Cabbage – pink peppercorn creme sauce & lentil caviar – they have transformed a cabbage into a spectacular dish (gluten free)
  • Roasted Cauliflower – with seaweed, fishless sauce plus purple cabbage kimchi (gluten-free)
  • Caviar and Potato Cakes – with lentil cäviar, fresh crema, pickled red onion, preserved lemon, and chives (gluten free)
  • Taköyaki – vegan hush puppies made with celeriac root pulp, deep-fried golden brown, and served with tamari teriyaki and a spicy, creamy yum yum sauce. This is my favorite item on their menu (gluten-free)
  • Mexifornia Roll – spicy tüna & cuc, topped with spicy avo mousse and house-made queso fresco (gluten-free).
