First Look at The Victorian, Oceanside’s Newest Restaurant

The Victorian oceanside

Oceanside has a new restaurant that is already turning heads. The Victorian Oceanside sits inside the historic Weitzel House, a Queen Anne home from the late 1880s. The bright yellow building is hard to miss, and the team has brought it back to life with care. When you walk in, you feel both history and warmth.

Update:  this was posted on their website 11/17/25:  “We are taking a brief pause in our service to renew. Sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We do look forward to welcoming you back.”

The Victorian makes the most of its unique setting. The house has seen many uses over the years, but now it feels like it has found its purpose. You get old Oceanside charm mixed with modern energy.

Chef Lisa Rivera Leads The Victorian Kitchen

Chef Lisa Rivera leads the kitchen at The Victorian Oceanside. She trained in both classic technique and modern approaches, which shows in every dish. Her style is clean and precise, with bold flavors and careful balance.

She focuses on local and seasonal produce, drawing from the best farms and markets in the region. Before opening The Victorian Oceanside, Lisa worked in several well-known San Diego restaurants. She has built a reputation for creative plates and strong execution.

What to Eat at The Victorian

The grilled vermillion at The Victorian is a highlight. It comes with tomato jus, salmoriglio, seasonal tomatoes, lemon, cucumber, bell pepper, and red onion. Cooked just right, the fish shines, and the sauces lift the flavor. This will likely become a signature dish. Every detail at The Victorian Oceanside feels intentional.

Steak fans will love the NY steak. It is sixteen ounces, cooked medium rare, with charred cipollini onions, confit new potatoes, and smoked béarnaise. Each bite is hearty and satisfying.

The sweet potato was rich and complex. It has cashew cream, kaffir leaf, fermented honey vinaigrette, serrano pepper, pickled golden raisin, black lime, and cilantro.  It’ll be a must-order for my next visit to The Victorian.

Drinks That Match The Victorian’s Food

Cocktails at The Victorian Oceanside are as creative as the food. The drinks were refreshing, balanced, and beautiful. Each one feels crafted with as much care as the food. The nonalcoholic options are just as strong. Ian and Meagan of Spiritual Advisors crafted the cocktail and mocktail menus.

Why The Victorian Will Be an Oceanside Favorite

The team behind The Victorian also runs local favorites like Pour House and Frankie’s. They know what Oceanside wants: great food, a sense of community, and a spot that feels alive. Their track record shows in every detail here. And the service is warm and welcoming, something you notice right away.

The Victorian should be on your list when looking for a place to dine in Oceanside. Between the history, the food, and the drinks, this place stands out. And most of all, The Victorian is the kind of restaurant you want to share with friends. The Victorian Oceanside sets a high bar for Oceanside dining.
