Valle de Guadalupe Weekend Itinerary: Activities at El Cielo

Valle de Guadalupe Weekend Itinerary

A Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary should include a stop at El Cielo. This winery and resort offers one of the most complete food and wine destinations in Baja. I recently visited and highly recommend it for anyone planning a Valle de Guadalupe getaway.

The property combines vineyards, award-winning wines, luxury villas, and Michelin Guide dining all in one place. El Cielo has earned international recognition for its wines and culinary program, and its signature restaurant Latitud 32 is included in the Michelin Guide for Mexico.

If you are planning a Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary, these are some of the best experiences you can enjoy while visiting El Cielo.

Valle de Guadalupe Getaway: Wine Tasting at El Cielo

No Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary is complete without wine tasting. El Cielo produces a wide range of varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Nebbiolo, and Syrah. The winery has received numerous international awards and was recently recognized as one of Mexico’s most awarded wineries.

Walk through the vineyards

One of my favorite activities on a Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary is simply walking through the vineyards. El Cielo has dozens of acres of vines planted across the property, surrounded by mountains and open countryside. It’s a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the scenery.

El Cielo is more than a winery. During your visit, you can explore gardens, olive trees, and open spaces around the resort that highlight the natural beauty of the valley.

Valle de Guadalupe Weekend Itinerary: Dining at Latitud 32

A highlight of any Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary is dinner at Latitud 32. This restaurant is included in the Michelin Guide and serves creative Baja-Yucatán cuisine with thoughtful wine pairings.

Order the tasting menu with wine pairings

If you are planning a food-focused Valle de Guadalupe getaway, I strongly recommend the tasting menu. This includes a BAJA-YUCATÁN or 7-course BAJA-YUCATÁN MICAELA tasting menu. The multi-course experience showcases seasonal ingredients and is paired with wines produced at the winery.

Stay overnight in the vineyard villas

For a relaxed Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary, consider staying overnight at the resort. The property has around 95 suites and villas designed in a Tuscan-inspired style and surrounded by vineyards.

Watch the sunset over the vineyards

Sunset is one of the best moments during a Valle de Guadalupe getaway. The golden light over the vines and mountains creates a peaceful setting that makes the experience memorable.

Explore the winery grounds by bike or golf cart

A fun activity during a Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary is exploring the property by bicycle or golf cart. The resort offers easy ways to move around the vineyards and tasting areas.

Try several El Cielo wine labels

Wine lovers planning a Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary should taste multiple labels produced on the estate. El Cielo grows a wide range of grape varieties and produces both red and white wines directly from its vineyards in the valley.

During your visit, you can sample different styles, from crisp whites to bold reds that reflect the climate and soil of Valle de Guadalupe. Taking time to try several wines is one of the best ways to understand the character of the winery and the region. It is a great addition to any Valle de Guadalupe getaway, especially for anyone interested in exploring the diversity of wines produced at El Cielo.

Bottle your own wine

Another memorable activity is the chance to bottle your own wine. El Cielo offers a hands-on experience where guests can participate in the bottling process and create a personalized bottle to take home. You can cork, seal, and label the bottle yourself. It is a fun way to connect with the winemaking process and leave your Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary with a special souvenir from the winery.

Experience falconry at El Cielo

A unique activity during our Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary was the falconry experience at El Cielo. Guests can watch trained falcons up close while learning about the ancient practice of falconry from expert handlers. Seeing these powerful birds fly over the vineyards is unforgettable. It adds something unexpected to a Valle de Guadalupe itinerary and shows another side of the property beyond wine and dining.

Relax with a glass of wine by the lake

The property includes two small lakes and open spaces that make it easy to unwind. During a Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary, it’s worth slowing down and enjoying a glass of wine with the vineyard views.  In the evening, the resort often lights the outdoor fire pits, creating a relaxed setting where guests can gather and enjoy classic fireside s’mores. It is a memorable way to end the night.

Make El Cielo the Center of Your Weekend Itinerary

For our visit, El Cielo was the centerpiece of our Valle de Guadalupe weekend itinerary. With wine tastings, Michelin Guide dining, and vineyard villas all in one place, it offers one of the most complete wine country experiences in Baja.

El Cielo is also surprisingly close to San Diego, which makes it perfect for a quick getaway. The drive from the border takes about an hour and a half, yet it feels like a completely different world once you arrive in wine country. Between the incredible wineries, standout restaurants, and beautiful boutique hotels throughout the valley, it is easy to build a memorable itinerary.
